News Release 03 June 2009 –Softbank
Apical announces that iridix technology is used in the 2009 summer model 3G/GSM handset of SOFTBANK MOBILE Corp. (Tokyo, Japan): the AQUOS SHOT Softbank 933SH, manufactured by Sharp.
The handset, which was launched 29th May 2009, embeds iridix to enhance images produced by its 10 megapixel CCD camera module.
The launch is the latest indication of the trend to deliver increasingly advanced camera functionality in the high-end handset market, matching and in some cases exceeding the performance of digital still cameras.
Dr Michael Tusch, CEO Apical: “We are very glad that our iridix technology has been used in the Softbank 933SH. Handset camera users want to be able to take high-quality pictures under a wide range of conditions, without the need to care about manual settings. Because iridix models how we see the world, it helps the camera produce natural images automatically.”
