sinter

sinter is a sophisticated spatial noise reduction technology built on Apical’s unique retinamorphic algorithms. Sinter modules have been developed both for still images and video.

To each still image or video frame, Sinter selectively smoothes noise in areas where it is visible, preserving edges and distinguishing noise from fine textures. Sinter can effectively process noise on a range of scales, from individual pixels to blocks characteristic of JPEG and MPEG compression.

Noise reduction is performed independently in luminance and chrominance channels, such that images with either strong intensity or strong colour noise can be handled equally effectively.

Sinter can be used together with Temper to provide noise reduction processing which can effectively suppress both random (such as sensor) and time-correlated (such as MPEG-4) noise sources.

sinter is a noise reduction engine for both sensor noise and MPEG/JPEG deblocking
