New Sanyo CCTV cameras use iridix

London 12th November 2008: Sanyo's new WDR CCTV cameras, VCC-W8774, VCC-W8775P, use iridix by Apical.

Apical's iridix WDR image processing technology has been incorporated into the latest CCTV cameras by SANYO Electric Co., Ltd. ("Sanyo").

Sanyo's WDR cameras, VCC-W8774, VCC-W8775P, use advanced sensor technology, together with state-of-the art image processing developed by Sanyo using Apical's iridix core.

Sanyo engineers wanted to create a camera with WDR performance rivalling that of the human eye. To help achieve this, Sanyo incorporated the iridixR WDR image processing core, developed by the UK technology company Apical Limited ("Apical"). iridix is widely recognized to provide the most accurate model of human visual response, especially in WDR conditions. It adaptively treats each pixel and its local environment on an individual basis, with the result that all the true color, local contrast, shadow and highlight detail captured by the advanced WDR sensor is faithfully preserved in the output video stream.

Dr Michael Tusch, CEO Apical: "We are very pleased to see how Sanyo has combined its advanced camera technology with our WDR image processing core to produce a camera with superb performance both in low light and in extreme contrast conditions."

Mr.Shigekazu Morikawa, Senior Manager of Digital System Company DI Division in Sanyo states, "SANYO Electric Co., Ltd. adopted the IP core named "iridix", produced by Apical Limited and providing real-time dynamic range correction technology, for Sanyo's unique image processing engine developed for the next generation security cameras VCC-W8774 and VCC-WD8874.

Our newly developed image processing engine enables the display of natural imagery for any scene, by dynamic range correction technology using the human retina-morphic processing algorithm "iridix", as well as the advantage of well-experienced image processing technology, to enable fully the bringing out of wide dynamic range performance, which is a key feature of these cameras, and correcting luminance pixel by pixel in real time.

This has led security camera steps closer to "human eyes". ".
